La Vitrine Contemporaine de Monaco (LVCDM) is extending its current exhibition until October 22, 2024, offering art enthusiasts an extended opportunity to experience a remarkable blend of Monegasque classical artistry alongside contemporary works by Zoia Skoropadenko. This intimate exhibition bridges the past and present of Monaco's vibrant cultural scene, with Skoropadenko's modern interpretations breathing new life into the Principality's rich artistic heritage.

Set against the backdrop of Monaco's storied history as a Mediterranean crossroads, this showcase complements the spirit of the 29th edition of the European Heritage Days, which Monaco will celebrate on September 21-22, 2024. The theme, "Routes, Networks, and Connections," speaks to the Principality's legacy as a hub of cultural and economic exchange, from its ancient role as a key port to its rise as a luxury destination in the Belle Époque. Monaco’s history, shaped by these routes and connections, forms the perfect context for exploring the interplay of tradition and innovation in the featured artworks.

Visitors are invited to discover the classical influences that have shaped Monaco’s art, highlighted by works from renowned Monegasque artists. Skoropadenko’s pieces, meanwhile, offer a fresh perspective, interpreting Monaco’s identity through a contemporary lens. From iconic locations in the old town to cutting-edge contemporary buildings, LVCDM continues to serve as a portal into Monaco’s artistic past, present, and future. This extended exhibition offers a unique moment to appreciate the Principality’s evolving cultural narrative, free of charge, allowing both locals and international visitors to delve into its artistic patrimony.

The extended exhibition at La Vitrine Contemporaine de Monaco (LVCDM), running until October 22, 2024, provides a unique glimpse into Monaco's rich artistic legacy, showcasing a blend of works by Monegasque classical artists Etienne Clerissi, Nanette Sufren Reymond, and Emmanuel Bellini, alongside contemporary pieces by Zoia Skoropadenko.

Etienne Clerissi (1920–1995) was a master of landscape painting, capturing the essence of the Mediterranean in his depictions of the French and Italian Rivieras. His attention to light and atmosphere transforms familiar seascapes into poetic reveries, immersing viewers in the natural beauty of the region. His work in the exhibition offers a nostalgic view of Monaco’s coastal charm, reflecting the Principality’s longstanding connection with the sea.

Nanette Sufren Reymond (1911–1990), a lesser-known yet influential Monegasque artist, was known for her intricate still lifes and portraiture. Her works displayed in this exhibition highlight her skill in blending classical techniques with a modern sensibility, capturing the refined elegance of Monaco’s high society during her time. Reymond’s portraits exude a sense of quiet dignity, while her still lifes breathe with delicate life, offering a window into the domestic sophistication of early 20th-century Monaco.

Emmanuel Bellini (1904–1989), one of Monaco’s most renowned painters, is celebrated for his vibrant use of color and expressive brushwork. His works often feature the landscapes of Monaco and its surrounding regions, rendered in bold, almost Fauvist tones that emphasize emotional resonance over realism. Bellini’s dynamic compositions evoke the sun-drenched beauty of the Riviera, capturing the light, energy, and movement of the area with a distinct Monegasque flair.

Zoia Skoropadenko, a contemporary artist with roots in Monaco, adds a fresh, modern perspective to this exhibition. Known for her explorations of social and cultural themes, Skoropadenko's works in this collection reflect her signature style—blending simplicity with deep emotional resonance. Her paintings often challenge the viewer to consider the transient nature of time and place, while her modern interpretations of Monaco’s cultural identity invite reflection on the city’s current place in the world. Skoropadenko’s works in this exhibition, which include both figurative and abstract pieces, complement the historical richness of the classical artworks, creating a dialogue between past and present.

Through this thoughtfully curated exhibition, LVCDM offers visitors an opportunity to explore Monaco’s evolving artistic landscape, from the classical traditions of its foundational artists to the contemporary interpretations that continue to shape its future. This blend of heritage and modernity reflects Monaco’s cultural "routes and connections," making it a truly unique artistic destination.
